Deadline Extension: Duration of Studies
Students lose the right to take examinations in the degree program if they do not take all examinations by the end of the maximum duration of study. The maximum duration of study is specified in the study and examination regulations and is
- nine semesters for the Bachelor's degree course in Mechanical Engineering SPO 2015,
- ten semesters for the Bachelor's degree course in Mechanical Engineering SPO 2023,
- nine semesters for the Bachelor's degree course in Mechanical Engineering (International) SPO2017,
- seven semesters for the Master's degree course in Mechanical Engineering SPO 2015.
But there are exceptions here too: If you are not responsible for missing the deadline, you can apply to the examination board for an extension. The decision on an extension of the deadline and on exceptions to the deadline regulation is made by the Examination Board. The application must be submitted in writing, usually up to six weeks before the deadline.
If you would like to apply for an extension, we require the following documents:
- an informal application in which you explain why you will exceed the deadline through no fault of your own,
- written evidence of the reasons, for example a medical certificate,
- a timetable showing how you plan to continue your studies and which examinations you have already taken.
An information sheet from the student council will provide you with further assistance in preparing the application.
Please make an appointment to submit the application in person.
